Dr. Magana is a plastic surgeon who practices in NY and CT.
He has devoted himself to the art and science of plastic surgery. He has a deep appreciation for cinema and prior to entering medicine was a special effects makeup artist in Hollywood. He worked on several productions and contributed to some of the effects in the movie Total recall.
His main interest lies in horror, sci fi and fantasy movies as well as the conceptualization of characters, creatures, and monsters of the genre.

The talk will include a brief intro to SPFX in movies and also the practical aspects of make up artistry from design, to creating an impression of the actor/actress and sculpting a character to the application of prosthetic parts to the face as well as dental prosthetics and contact lenses.
