Preserving Leonia’s Art Heritage

Arts Organization

Preserving Leonia’s Art Heritage committee was formed in 2008 to preserve, protect, increase awareness of, and exhibit the rich collection of artwork owned by the Leonia Board of Education and displayed throughout Leonia’s public schools.

Most of the works were donated by the artists themselves who were Leonia residents primarily during the first half of the 20th century. Their concentration in our “square mile” gave the Borough the reputation of being an “arts town” and “artist colony.”

The committee conducts fundraisers and welcomes donations to be put toward art preservation. It offers tours to see the art and welcomes volunteers to serve on its committee.
