Barbara Stein Mallow, cellist, is recognized as a distinguished chamber musician, recitalist and soloist. From her early years she has been an accomplished pianist and was twice winner of the New York Philharmonic Young Composers Award. A graduate of Yale School of Music with Bachelor and Master degrees, she was a founding member of the Carnegie String Quartet, the resident ensemble at Brooklyn College and a founding member of the Chamber Arts Trio at Queens College with her twin sister, violinist Carol Stein Amado.
Besides her extensive touring schedule, Barbara Stein Mallow is a distinguished teacher of cello, having served on the faculties of Bennington College, Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, Hoff-Barthelson School of Music and the Mannes College of Music. During the summers, she performs and teaches at the Aspen Music Festival, Kneisell Hall Chamber Music School in Blue Hill, Maine, as well as the Perlman Music School Program, where she established the cello and chamber music program. She is vice president of the New York Violoncello Society.
