Originally from Chicago, I moved to the NYC area in the 1980’s to pursue an acting career. Since then I’ve been part of the NYC acting community, performing in television, movies, and on stage. I’ve been in the casts of many stage productions including City of Angels, Cabaret, Into The Woods, Les Miserables, Thief River, and Black Tie, to name a few. For my work I’ve been fortunate to have received four TONY Award nominations, multiple Outer Critics Award nominations, and a Drama Desk Award. I’ve also been part of many movies and television series. In the past few years, I have added teacher and stage director to my resume. It has given me a chance to explore another side of my artistic self and I enjoy it immensely. Working with students at NYU, Princeton, and Northwestern, to name a few, I have discovered the joy of ‘paying it forward’ to the next generation of artists, as well as continuing to explore the acting process for myself.
Although I spend a great deal of time in the city rehearsing and performing, I find that Leonia’s thriving artistic community gives me exposure to the best in the performing arts without ever crossing the GWB. One of my newest theatrical collaborations started when my doorbell rang and the wonderful playwright Kathleen Clark handed me a script and asked if I wanted to direct her next play. Only in Leonia.
